Cross “U pošty” in Dubenec

The monument is situated close to the local post office in Dubenec, GPS 50°22'10.44“N, 15°48'43.04“E. It is located on the plot no. 2003/1. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone. It was erected in 1881 at the expenses of local philanthropists (their names are now illegible with respect to the height of the monument and to the placement of a metal roof above the cross). The author of the monument is Josef Langer from Dubenec. It is demonstrated by the inscription at the back of the cornice and on the side of the base. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five basic parts – stepped footing, double stepped base with the following German religious inscription on its front part: “O Jesus Durch dein Kreutz und Leiden hast du die ganze Welt erlost”, in free translation into English: “Oh Jesus through your cross and suffering you have redeemed the whole world”. To the base a column with a niche in front is attached in which a small sculpture of the St. Virgin Mary was originally located; the cornice and the top cross bear a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ. A small sculpture of the resting Lamb of God is located by the foot of the cross as well as the inscription: “Es ist vollbracht” (in English translation It is finished). Above the cross there is a small sheet metal roof coming out of a solid iron rest bolted to the back side of the monument.

 

Cross in Bezník/Borek

The sandstone cross is situated in the village of Bezník, in its local part Borek. It is made of light sandstone and its author is J. Svoboda, the sculptor from Hořice. That can be demonstrated by his insignia at the right side part of the column. It was erected at the expenses of local citizens in 1877. It is also demonstrated by the inscription at the back side of the column: “Tato socha jest postavena nákladem obce Beznické za starání starosty Jana Feika L.P.1877. Opravena za starosty Ant. Š.1908,K. Pospíšil, Pecka”. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts – single footing; base with the carved religious text / humanistic minuscula: “Pojďte ke mně, kteříž v světě v slzách těžce pracujete, Pojďte, já vás občerstvím. Tento Spasitel vás volá, Jeho hlasu kdo odolá? Pojďme k němu s bříměm svým”. The base continues to a column with the central relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrows; cornice with a small sculpture of the resting Lamb of God (a symbol of the Savior’s innocent sacrifice), cross bearing a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment with I.N.R.I. Inscription. The monument is fenced with a small railing embedded into the sandstone base. It was renovated in 2015. A contemporary wooden belfry is situated close to the monument.

 

Cross in Borek

The stone cross is situated in the village of Borek. GPS: 50°25′53″,15°39′43. It is made of light, fine-grained sandstone and with respect to its craftsmanship its author is most probably J. Khun. It was erected at the expenses of local citizens probably in the first half of the 19th century. It consists of a total of five connected parts – single footing; base with a relief of „sleeping Jesus on the cross”; column with the central relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow, cornice with a small sculpture of the resting Lamb of God (a symbol of the Savior’s innocent sacrifice) and heads of winged angels on both sides (so called puttis). The top cross bears a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. A relief of the “Adam's skull with a snake” is situated by the foot of the cross. On the sides of the column there are the following inscriptions: “BUD DOBŘE NADEGE, TWŮG SPASITEL ŽIGE” and “POGTE WY WSSICKNI KDO OBTIŽENI GSTE A GA WAS OBČERSTWIM”. The cross was renovated in 2015.

 

Cross in Dvoráčky/Mostek

The cross in the classical style was built at the community expenses and its author is the sculptor G. Staffa. It was erected probably in the last quarter of the 19th century. The monument is made of light fine-grained sandstone and consists of a total of five connected parts – stepped footing, base, column with the central relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow and the embedded inscription plate of white marble with the hardly legible German religious text below. Cornice and the top sandstone cross bearing a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment relief with I.N. R.I. inscription are attached to the column. The monument was originally surrounded most probably with wooden fence embedded into corner sandstone columns. In the parish chronicle of Horní Brusnice is recorded that in 1837 only a wooden cross with sheet metal painted Christ's corpus was situated in Dvoráčky. The year 1795 was depicted on the cross and it was called the “Gemeindekreuz”. It is very likely that this cross used to stand at the same place where the monument described above is located now.

 

Cross in Horní Brusnice

The sandstone cross is situated in a freely accessible area in the former cemetery in the village of Horní Brusnice. It is located by the right side of the road to Mostek and its author is unknown. It was erected at the expenses of local citizens in 1828 that is also demonstrated by the Latin inscription at the back of the column: “HAEC STATUA SUMPTIBUS COMMUNTTATIS BOHEMO PRUSNICENSIS ERECTA EST ANNO 1828”. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts - stepped footing with access steps, base with the carved German religious text in front: “O ihr alle, die ihr vor übergehet, merket und sehet, ob ein Schmerz dem meinigen gleicke!”; the relief with the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow is attached to the base; then cornice and the cross with a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription.

 

Cross in Horní Dehtov/Třebihošť

The cross is situated in the village of Horní Dehtov, in its local part Třebihošť, next to the house no. 32. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and its author is unknown. It was erected at the expenses of the municipality in 1886 which is also demonstrated by the inscription at the back side of the column. “Postaven nákladem obce roku 1886”. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts – stepped footing, double-stepped base, column with the carved religious text / humanistic minuscula in front: “Patřte na původce a dokonavatele víry Ježíše, kterýž místo předložené soběradosti strpěl kříž nedbaje hanby”. Cornice and the top cross bearing a gilded figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a relief parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription are attached to the column. The monument was renovated by the municipality in 2015.

 

Cross in Chroustov/Úhlejov

The sandstone cross is situated in the village of Chroustov, in its local part Úhlejov. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and its author is unknown. It was erected at the expenses of the Chroustov community in 1831 which is demonstrated by the inscription at the back side of the column: “Za času W. P. Jana Eduarda Arnolda faráře Miletínského. Nákladem obce Chroustowské w roku 1831. F:M:M:K: v: H: Ry:Ja:H:”. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts - single footing, base with the following carved religious text / humanistic minuscula: “Pane rozpomeň se na mne, když přijdeš do králowstvi swého. Luc. XXIII.42”; of the column with a gilded relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow; cornice, the cross bearing a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. The monument is surrounded with a wooden fence and was renovated at the expenses of the municipality in 2015.

 

Cross in Nové Lesy/Bílá Třemešná

The cross in situated in the village of Nové Lesy, in the local part of the village of Bílá Třemešná. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and its author is unknown. It was erected at the expenses of local citizens which is also demonstrated by the inscription at the back of the cornice: “Tento svatý kříž dali k slávě Nejsvětějšího a povzbuzení ducha nábožného postavili Jiří Mann a Jeho manželka Rosálie léta Páně 1849”. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts – stepped footing, base with a carved religious text / humanistic minuscula: “Toto jest přikázaní mé, aby ste se milovali vespolek, jako já miloval vás. Většího milování nad to žádný nemá, než aby duši svou položil za přátely své. Jan 15:12,13.”; of a column with the central relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow; cornice, the cross bearing a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a relief parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. At the bottom of the cross a small sculpture of the resting Lamb of God (symbol of the Savior's innocent sacrifice) is located. At the back side of the column there is another religious text: “Dejž Ó Kriste Spasiteli Nám tak žíti, jakož velí Slovo Tvé, by náš duch vzhůru Vzlét za tebou k nebes kůru”. The monument is fenced with a railing embedded into a sandstone base. It was renovated in 2011 by the married couple Mann - decedents of the original donors.

 

Cross in Sedlec/Lanžov

The late Baroque cross is located by the pond in the village of Sedlec, in its local part Lanžov. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and its author is unknown. It was erected in1781 and later relocated to its existing position at the expenses of local citizens. It is also demonstrated by the inscriptions on the base: “Prwnjho nakladu Jiřího Haka r:1781” and “Ke cti a chwale gest tento S. Jan Nep. přelozeny R. 1843 Nákladem Obce Sedlecké”. It is a vertical sandstone monument consisting of a total of three connected parts – base with the carved religious inscription in front: “Orodug za nás S. Jene, Abychom hodnj bily zasljbeny Krystowy”; pillar in form of a Tuscan column on the shaft of which there is a carved relief of St. John of Nepomuk, and of the top cross with the figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. The monument was renovated in 2008.

 

Cross in Třebihošť

The monument is situated next to the building no. 209 by the right side of road to the Zvičina peak. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and was erected at the expenses of local citizens in 1866. It is also demonstrated by the inscription at the back side of the column: “Postaven od nábožných občanů, Léta Páně 1866”. Its author is unknown. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five connected parts – stepped footing, base with the following carved religious text / humanistic minuscula in front: “O vy všyckni který jdete cestou, pozorujte a vizte jestli jest bolest jak bolest má. Pláč Jeremiáše 11.12”. Column with the central relief of the Virgin Mary of Sorrow is attached to the base. Its sides are plastically guided in an axially symmetrical - conically concave curve, closed with a volute motif at the bottom. Another part is the cornice with small heads of angels (so called puttis) on its sides and a rich crafted lantern in front. The top of the monument consists of a cross bearing the sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a relief parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. The cross is surrounded with a fence embedded in sandstone columns. In 2016 the monument was renovated by the municipality.

 

Cross in Vřesník

The sandstone cross is made of light fine-grained sandstone and its author is J. Khun. It was erected at the expenses of local citizens in 1839. These facts are demonstrated by the preserved inscriptions at the back side of the column: “J. Khun. Fecit 1839“ and “PostaWen přIspěnÍM WšeCh osaDnÍkV WřesnICkýCh A.P.”. At its back side there is also the following religious text: “Kdo se Krista Pána bojí, Jeho nadějí se kojí: Pevně stane v každé bauřj, pohroma ho neposmauřj”. Stonemasonry decoration of the monument is represented by a relief of the “sleeping Jesus on the cross” at the front part of the base; central relief of the St. Virgin Mary of Sorrow on the column; a small sculpture of the resting Lamb of God (a symbol of the Savior’s innocent sacrifice) and the angels' heads on the cornice (so called puttis). The top cross bears the figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ, by his feet there is a relief of “the Adam's skull” and on its top there is a parchment with the I.N.R.I. inscription. The monument is fenced with a railing embedded into the sandstone base.

 

Cross in Zálesí/Doubravice

The Rococo cross is situated at the outskirts of the Zálesí village, in the local part of Doubravice, in front of the house no. 11. It is made of light fine-grained sandstone and was erected on 25 April 1820 at the expenses of the local citizen Josef Janeček. It is also demonstrated by the inscription in the cartouche in front of the base: “znaMeni spasIteLe / oChranuj We Werne Ch .Le / prosboV Iozefa IaneCzka / tak WoLa obeC zaLeska / genz to V..aV postaWILI ke WenV WIkVpIteLI / XXV Dubna”. Its author is unknown. It is a vertical monument consisting of a total of five parts – footing, base, column with volute profile in front of which a relief of the Virgin Mary of Sorrow with a stabbed sword in her heart is located; of cornice, the top cross bearing a figural sculpture of the crucified Jesus Christ and a relief parchment with I.N.R.I. inscription. The monument was originally surrounded by low wooden fence embedded in sandstone columns.
